It is often assumed that rabbits instinctivly know which plants are poisonous, but unfortunately this is not the case. So it falls to you to identify the plants in your garden and find out if they are poisonous or not.
Hopefully the list below will be of some help. This is by no means a complete list, when you consider the thousands of plant species out there, to compile one would be a near impossible task.
Now there is a good chance that, like us, your not expert gardeners and wouldn't know the differance between a bunchberry and a bladderpod. So to start you off, if the plant is an ivy, a lilly, from a bulb, has berries, is evergreen or produces fruit that has a stone, there is a good chance it is poisonous. And anything that has poison or deadly in it's name is unlikely to be good.
Some sources will say rabbits can eat all fruit trees, but this is not the case. As we mentioned earlier, trees that produce fruit with a stone (ie.plum) are poisonous.
Fortunately, only some of these plants can be outright fatal, such as the yew or the nightshades, even when eaten in small amounts. With most of them, as long as your rabbit eats plenty of fresh hay and is otherwise healthy, the odd nibble shouldn't cause a problem, and you can have shooed them away, onto the next temptation, before too much is consumed.
